The Discover Mongolia-2013 International Mining Investors Forum will take place at the Mongolian Children’s Palace in Ulaanbaatar on September 5 and 6, and a mine site visit will take place on September 7.

“This year’s forum is special in multiple respects. First of all, the organizing committee is proud that this event has grown to such a hallmark status, and will be celebrating its 11th annual event this year. Secondly, this year’s Discover Mongolia IMIF will be held right after the presidential election in Mongolia. We all know that political stability and the Government of Mongolia’s policy towards mining is of the utmost importance to international and domestic investors in the mining sector. Hence, we look forward to being the information platform for Mongolia’s governmental policy towards minerals,” commented Ochirbat Punsalmaa, chairman of the IMIF’s organizing committee and former President of Mongolia.

The forum aims to be a bridge between Mongolian mineral sector stakeholders – the industry, the government, and civil society, for more meaningful and constructive cooperation. It also seeks new engagement and collaboration opportunities that serve the mutual and collective interests of all industry stakeholders.

This year, the organizing committee decided to make slight changes to the traditional format of the mining conference. The conference will be comprised of panels addressing core issues that are essential for the development of a robust and effective minerals industry. These are; Stable Legal Environment for the Minerals Sector; Optimal Infrastructure Solutions for Mining Development Needs; Environmentally Sound Mining; Human Resources for Mining; Demand and Supply; and Stakeholders Engagement at the Local Level

In addition to these five panels, the conference will organize an Ambassadors’ Panel with the Ambassadors of Japan, South Korea, the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China to discuss regional cooperation in the minerals industry.

The concluding session of the mining conference will be an international exchange session presenting the views of Australia, Kyrgyzstan and North Korea, with a focus on the perspectives of cooperation with Mongolia in the minerals industry.

Hosted concurrently with the mining conference, the forum will feature an exhibition of geological and mining companies, joined by dozens of companies that provide various services to the minerals industry.

Since 2003, the Discover Mongolia International Mining Investors Forum has presented Mongolia’s largest mining conference and investment exchange exhibition to introduce and discuss issues critical to the development of the Mongolian mineral industry.  The Discover Mongolia forum is organized by Prime Info LLC and the Mongolian National Mining Association, supported by the Ministry of Mining and sponsored by a stock of Mongolian and foreign mining entities, media, banking and IT companies. Representatives from over 10 countries have been registered to participate at the forum.

Participants will include the Ministry of Mining as an official supporter, the Ministry of Environment and Green Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Mineral Authority and other agencies from the Government of Mongolia. Governors and Chairmen of the People’s Representative Khural of Govi-Altai, Khovd and Umnugovi provinces will also be in attendance.
